What's the story behind the Toronto Blue Jays backpack song ritual?
We've been to a few Toronto Blue Jays games this year at the Roger's Centre. Before each game, they play a children's "backpack" song as a player wearing a pink backpack enters the Jays' bullpen.
What's the story behind this? It seems like a hazing ritual, but I didn't think the team would broadcast it on the jumbotron screen if it was. Any ideas? Thank you.
The rookie has to carry the pink backpack to the backpack song that is from Dora. It has been Carlson for almost the entire season and last year IIRC it was Brian Wolfe. However, friday evening Carlson did not have the pink bag.
