Odd for playing Pass, Come, and Place a Bet in craps. ex 3X table?

On what point numbers do you 3X your Pass flat bet? 6 and 8 are more likely than 4 and 10 to be rolled, should you 3X on 6 and 8 but many only 1X on 4 and 10?. Same question for playing the Come. What Come point numbers should you place odds on the Come, Lastly, as a strategy do you normally Place bets on 6 and 8? ...or go for the bigger payout with 4/10 or 5/9? Hope this makes sense, but if you know craps you should understand the question. Thanks

3X is for the 4/10, 4X is for the 5/9 and 5X is for the 6/8.

There isn't any strategy for how much odds you should bet because the house advantage is 0%. Don't be fooled into thinking the the 4 and 10 come about too rarely to bet much on. The truth is that the payout justifies the means in which to bet. There are bets you should NOT make though which is more important.

You should NEVER make a put bet on any number unless you can put more than 4X odds (5X odds for the 6 or 8). The reason is that the place bet will pay more for the same result. A place bet is nothing more than one unit flat with 4X odds (5X for the 6/8). The only reason you make pass line/come bets is because you have the advantage on the come out roll.

NEVER say "No action" or take down a Don't Come Bet. If you change your mind then bet the same amount against it on a place bet. The worst that will happen is that you break even if the 7 still rolls. If the number rolls then you break even PLUS a couple extra dollars.

NEVER bet a $36 five/nine. I see this bet all the time. If you want to parlay your $15 to $36 then you should at the very least buy it for $35. It doesn't cost you any more money because the dollar on top can be used to buy it. It will pay you $52 instead of $50. That's a 4% difference. A lot of money in gambling terms. Toss in an extra dollar to buy for $36 which will pay $54, however this defeats the purpose of not having to worry about your parlay.

NEVER play Big 6/Big 8. They only pay even money. So what if you're only going to play $10. Give it to the dealer and tell him/her what you want. You'll get an extra dollar for it.

NEVER play the World bet for $15 or more if the casino has hop bets. You should take the time and bet $12 Horn and $3 7's hop. Every nickel you want to put on the World should be $4 horn $1 seven bet separately. If the seven rolls you'll get some money for it instead of just breaking even.

NEVER play a Lay bet for $1 more than an even payout amount. Sure, you shouldn't really bet an odd amount anyway, but if you lay $25 against the 5,6,8,9 then you won't get any more money for that extra dollar wagered. You WILL get more money if you wager more than $1 and still have it uneven. For the 5/9 an extra 1 gets 0, an extra 2 gets 1. For the 6/8 an extra 1 gets 0, 2 gets 1, 3 gets 2, 4 gets 3, 5 gets 4.

This advice talks in terms of $1 chips, but even if you are a big player, the dollars add up quickly if you are guilty of any of these practices. Try saving up these dollars in a pocket or something and when you are done playing see how many dollars you got. If you just play a couple hours you could easily have $50.

i think what you've heard is that craps can offer you the best odds in the casino, but you've got it slightly wrong.
you don't want to play the pass line against the don't pass line, that's just hedging your bets and guarantees you one win and one loss.
the best bet is a small bet on the pass line and the max odds bet, which is placed behind your bet on the pass line, after there is a point. but it's not a don't win line, it's still a pass line bet, you're still betting to make the point.

Ignore Player, almost everything he says all the time is wrong.

I don't give out my strategies for free (or cheaply, for that matter) but I will say in general to stay away from the prop bets (hard ways, horn bet, etc) and stick with the pass line, don't pass line, and place bets. You will do alright with these if you manage your money well and don't go crazy. The don't pass line has slightly better odds than the pass line, so if you're only going to make one bet, the don't pass with odds is the way to go. (and don't listen to anyone who tells you not to take odds on the don't pass line --like casino dealers -- they don't know what they're talking about).

As far as setting dice goes, the throw is a lot more important than the set. If you don't have a skilled toss, it doesn't matter how you set them. If you want to do it anyway, the best set on the come out (assuming you're shooting from the pass line) is 7's all around with the 6's and 1's pointing out. Once the point is up, make a V with the 3's if the point is 5, 6, 8, or 9, and a V with the 2's if the point is 4 or 10. With the first set you should have 6's and 8's on all 4 sides if you rotate them on axis, and with the second set you should see 4's and 10's.

I dont play the pass or dont pass line. I just make place bets on the 6 and 8. Once the 6 or 8 hit, I take the bets off. If the table seems hot, lets say I have a $12 6 and a $12 8 and I hit, I then place a $6 6 and a $6 8 so that way its a no lose situation for me, and I if the table stays hot, I can take advantage of the hot table.

I don't know if that will consistentally win. I have seen so many 7 outs on the first roll. For every 7 out, you would need 2 sucessful wins.

Anybody familiar with the math in card counting in blackjack?
A system where there's a Hi-low count, example, assigns 2 - 6 as +1, 7 - 9 as 0, and Tens and Aces as -1.
There was a book published, i cannot remember its title. In the book there was tables to show you when to Hit/Stand/Split/Double Down. Not only i am looking for that book, but also for that system online. I googled "winning betting strategies" and "winning betting systems",but couldn't find this book or this system described online.

= The "wizard of odds" has a brief discussion of card counting strategies. He also has print out cards showing "basic strategy". Equally important he has a survey of all the blackjack games in Vegas. This helps you find a game that has a low house edge to begin with. Card counting has a lot less to overcome.
= For instance, the "El Cortez" and the "Four Queens" casino in downtown Vegas are the only casinos that still deal single deck "full blackjack payout (3:2)" blackjack.
This is the closest game that currently exists that is similar to blackjack in the early 1960's when "card counting" became well known. The difference is now that a dealer "hits on a soft 17", the player is not allowed to "double after he splits" or to "resplit aces" and the house only deals about 30-35 cards of the deck.
= Hypothetically if you played the single deck game above but the dealer "hits on soft 17" and you could "double after you split" the casino would have a slightly negative edge against "basic strategy" even without card counting. This would be the game as it existed in the early 1960's when "Beat the Dealer" was published. Of course, in the early 1960's people didn't completely know "basic strategy" because you can't figure it out without a computer. In addition, the casino would just cheat you if you won too much.
= I've noticed at the El Cortez that since the dealers are very new and often speak very little English, that they forget what they are doing and deal as many as 44 cards You can see them stop and make a face like they knew they made a mistake, but they can't change their minds once they start. Dealing near the bottom of the deck is a huge advantage a card counter can exploit.
= Another advantage of the survey is that most casinos have a "good game" with low house edge and a "bad game". Four Queens usually only has one good table, while El Cortez has three good tables and three bad tables.

Yesterday I played at an Indian Casino. Table limits were $5-500. I have read many books on blackjack. I never read anything like I saw. When I arrived at the table (3rd base) a lady was playing 3 hands at $500. She had about $2300 in black chips, 500 in green and 75 in red chips.
She ended up losing everything, and going into her purse for about $1200 more.

Gambling theories are widespread. There are many 'rules' for how and when to bet, how much to bet, how to place your chips on the table, and even what expression to hold on your face.

Truth is, gambling is an individual activity. The idea is to get that rush that comes from risking what's yours, so you bet amounts that make you nervous. There's no sport in betting nickles if your worth is millions.

So, the idea that the woman needed to hold 80 times the amount she was betting only points to conservative play. Conservative play is something done by people who are killing time. They will ante up for every poker hand, and fold often since they will mostly have no immediate chance for a winning hand. When those folks suddenly bet, you can be sure that they hold a good pair of cards in the hole.

Finally, as far as the guy who didn't take a hit card when holding the 3+2, his activity has no bearing on the others' play at the table - he had an even chance of either getting or not getting the dealer's bust card. The woman would have done well to simply play all of the positions on the table if she wanted to control how any particular position drew or stood.

If one wants to be in control of one's destiny when gambling, one should be sure no outsiders take a seat at the table to change one's understanding of the rules.

The House of Representatives voted on Tuesday to ban online gambling including poker and casino games. However the same bill excluded online lotteries, horse racing, dog racing and various fantasy sports betting.

I am still baffled why the US decided not to just regulate online gaming and tax it. Instead, they try to ban in and force companies to open up shop, offshore. Basically, the US citizens are sending money to overseas companies that could easily be set up in the US if the regulate it. The US stands to benefit immensely from the revenue generated by the taxing of the operations. It just doesn't make sense. The US could be out of debt in no time.

So my answer is it should not be banned but instead regulated.

I enjoy blackjack very much as it is simple and gives the house a relatively small edge compared to most games but the one thing I truly hate is the mechanical card shuffler sat at the table. Is there any such thing as a 'gambling college'? ?

Two questions...

I have never heard of a "college" for "advantage play" which is what it is called, however there are many successful, professional advantage players that assault casinos every day, not all of them play for the big bucks, some people do ti just for fun, because no matter how good you are, there is still a gambling nature to the occupation, while you may have a 99% chance to make unlimited money your whole life, you may suffer a 1% chance of losing some enormous figure like 20k, to some people this is not acceptable so they play for small amounts just for fun.

I would be happy to open up advantage play 101 classes for 1 on 1 training for a small fee, I live in NJ, and could teach you EVERYTHING you will need to know as well as teach you many secrets not talked about in books. My friends have actually suggested this many times, my main objection has always been that most people dont BELIEVE that casinos are beatable (when in fact it is very beatable), so i would have difficulty finding students.

I take blackjack above and beyond counting cards to extract every ounce of EV I can from the game in any manor possible, i have endless tactics to teach you if you are interested. Having a private instructor is a good way to go considering eventually YOUR money will be on the felt, a book will not tell you if you have NOT learned something important while an instructor will. Also books only list the minimum neccessary information to COUNT, playing at the tables undetected is a whole different ballgame.

So say I start with 1000 dollars. Bet 5 dollars a hand. When I lose, I double the bet, meaning that the loss is recouped. If you lose twice, double it again, betting 20. Keep doubling until you win, and you are back to even plus your original bet. Foolproof?

NO! You will lose early in the night and will be wandering around wondering 'what happened?' Here's why. What you are describing is the Martingale system and it is exactly as you describe...bet small, lose double, lose double, win go back to the original wager. Okay in your example you start with $5 and have a bankroll of $1000. First of all the bankroll you are starting with is about $5,000 too small. You bet $5, lose $10 lose, $20, $40, $80, $160, $320 now you are out of money. What if you had more money? You still could not continue because of the table limits will be $5-$300 or maybe $500max. What do you do if that $320 hand is a pair of 8s? Get a loan for the split, just hit it, or do you get scared and just stay against a ten? Do yourself a favor and just play with a standard progressive system of betting. Good luck!
