Blackjack Card Counting help?

So I recently saw the movie 21 (I know it came out about a year ago) and I became interested in counting cards. I started practicing with the Knock-Out Card Counting system and it seems fairly easy. But I have a few questions. When do you start counting the cards? When you first get on the table or do you kick back as a spectator and count from there a few hands? and at what point on the running count do you place a higher bet? +3? +4? +5? Any advice would be helpful.
I have a job broski. Just wanted to pick this up as a hobby. Not looking for a million dollar profit just something I can have fun with.

Frstly, keep in mind that the movie 21 is highly fictionalized and dramatized and is based on some events that occurred years ago. The casinos have since made many rule changes to thwart the practice.

Card counting in blackjack is not cheating nor is it illegal,. But the casinos do not like it when you are counting and winning, and may ask you to leave if you are suspected of doing it. Be sure to practice a lot and be abel to do it with just a glance around the table, and do not get greedy, lol.

what is the best betting system to play blackjack? i heard 1-3-2-6 system is good is there any others?

Dovers system is not the best, he jsut sells it so he claims it is.

You can use whatever progressive bettign method you want, in the end, none of them will work.

There are 5 methods of beating blackjack that DO work though (card coutnign is not the only one)

1. Card counting
---There are many card countign systems that vary in compexity, the most efficient systems are multi paramiter systems that i really dont see people employing using only their minds as they are VERY complex particularly in the strategy deviation departmet of the system.
2. Shuffle tracking
---Shuffle trackers follow cards throuhg the shuffle and figure the advantage to the player based on the known cards and the number of unknown cards in the sector of cards they were visually following.
3. Ace prediction
----Similer to shuffle tracking, only the player only follows aces, or clusters of aces and calulates the player advantage accordingly.
4. Card sequencing
----Due to the inefficency of hand shuffles, and even the inner working of continuous shuffle machines, the order that cards were dealt during one shoe, will remain during the next shoe after the shuffle, though there will be an unknown number of unknown cards dealt between the cards the were noted in the previous shoe. The player will most likely use this knowledge to predict the presence of an ace in the cards pending to be dealt, but it can also effectively be used to predicct the presence of any card, and modify playing strategy accordingly.
5. Hole carding
-----Holecarding is gaining knowledge of the dealers holecard in the middle of the hands to guid playing strategy, there are legal ways to do this, and illegal ways, but it can yeild huge returns for the player.

In addition to those methods, you can use various scams, that arnt really illegal, but come VERY CLOSE to it, and will certainly get you the boot.

Holecarding is the MOST effective, if you can do it during every hand, but usually its a once every ten hands or so event that you get to view the dealer holecard however it is you manage to do it.

Card sequencing for the purpose of predicting when an ace is gogin to be dealt can be lucrative, when it works out in such a manor that you know you are about to be dealt an ace, however an obsticle occurs as more players sit at the table, you may find yourself knowing the the player next to you is about to be deal that ace you worked so hard to locate, and your efforts are in vein.

Most professionals use a combination of card counting and shuffle tracking which yeilds a player edge of about 2-3%, this is the best and the most practical approach, this is what i do, in addition i attempt to predict aces simultaniously, but it is of little gain because it very rarely generates an oportunity to bet.

Is roulette sniper a good roulette gambling system?

I'm new to online gambling and i've been trying some strategies that have worked for me at real casinos, but i keep losing online. I'm thinking that since you're playing against a computer, you'd need some kind of computer software to get any kind of edge. I've looked around for some roulette software and the one I hear most peeople having success with is Roulette Sniper.

Nobody can answer the question of whether or not a roulette system will work for you. You just have to bite the bullet and give it a shot. The can't do worse than you've done before, and there's always the shot as getting onto something big.

Anybody familiar with the math in card counting in blackjack?
A system where there's a Hi-low count, example, assigns 2 - 6 as +1, 7 - 9 as 0, and Tens and Aces as -1.
There was a book published, i cannot remember its title. In the book there was tables to show you when to Hit/Stand/Split/Double Down. Not only i am looking for that book, but also for that system online. I googled "winning betting strategies" and "winning betting systems",but couldn't find this book or this system described online.

Any ideas?

= The "wizard of odds" has a brief discussion of card counting strategies. He also has print out cards showing "basic strategy". Equally important he has a survey of all the blackjack games in Vegas. This helps you find a game that has a low house edge to begin with. Card counting has a lot less to overcome.
= For instance, the "El Cortez" and the "Four Queens" casino in downtown Vegas are the only casinos that still deal single deck "full blackjack payout (3:2)" blackjack.
This is the closest game that currently exists that is similar to blackjack in the early 1960's when "card counting" became well known. The difference is now that a dealer "hits on a soft 17", the player is not allowed to "double after he splits" or to "resplit aces" and the house only deals about 30-35 cards of the deck.
= Hypothetically if you played the single deck game above but the dealer "hits on soft 17" and you could "double after you split" the casino would have a slightly negative edge against "basic strategy" even without card counting. This would be the game as it existed in the early 1960's when "Beat the Dealer" was published. Of course, in the early 1960's people didn't completely know "basic strategy" because you can't figure it out without a computer. In addition, the casino would just cheat you if you won too much.
= I've noticed at the El Cortez that since the dealers are very new and often speak very little English, that they forget what they are doing and deal as many as 44 cards You can see them stop and make a face like they knew they made a mistake, but they can't change their minds once they start. Dealing near the bottom of the deck is a huge advantage a card counter can exploit.
= Another advantage of the survey is that most casinos have a "good game" with low house edge and a "bad game". Four Queens usually only has one good table, while El Cortez has three good tables and three bad tables.

Blackjack strategies help please!?

Yesterday I played at an Indian Casino. Table limits were $5-500. I have read many books on blackjack. I never read anything like I saw. When I arrived at the table (3rd base) a lady was playing 3 hands at $500. She had about $2300 in black chips, 500 in green and 75 in red chips.
She ended up losing everything, and going into her purse for about $1200 more.

So any thoughts on multiple hands?
It looks like she did not have the recommended amount of money to weather the storm (80X your bets).

Here is what happenned.
Dealer shows a 6. Player to my right has 3+2. (he does not hit believing that he will get a 10 and the dealers bust card)
I stand with18.
Dealer has a 5, and draws a 10 for 21.

The girl losses $1500 and says the person should have hit the 5.
Shouldn't you just play your cards regardless of others bets?

Gambling theories are widespread. There are many 'rules' for how and when to bet, how much to bet, how to place your chips on the table, and even what expression to hold on your face.

Truth is, gambling is an individual activity. The idea is to get that rush that comes from risking what's yours, so you bet amounts that make you nervous. There's no sport in betting nickles if your worth is millions.

So, the idea that the woman needed to hold 80 times the amount she was betting only points to conservative play. Conservative play is something done by people who are killing time. They will ante up for every poker hand, and fold often since they will mostly have no immediate chance for a winning hand. When those folks suddenly bet, you can be sure that they hold a good pair of cards in the hole.

Finally, as far as the guy who didn't take a hit card when holding the 3+2, his activity has no bearing on the others' play at the table - he had an even chance of either getting or not getting the dealer's bust card. The woman would have done well to simply play all of the positions on the table if she wanted to control how any particular position drew or stood.

If one wants to be in control of one's destiny when gambling, one should be sure no outsiders take a seat at the table to change one's understanding of the rules.

You have $2 and you need $8. You can reach your goal by a fair gamble, i.e. at each time you bet your chance of winning is p = 0:5; if you win, you get back your wager and your win (an amount equal to your wager); if you lose, you do not get anything back. Let us consider the following two strategies:

(a) bold strategy: at each round your aim is to come as close as possible to your goal; hence, you stake as much of your current fortune as needed to achieve this.
(1) Determine the probability that you reach your goal of $8; and
(2) Determine how many gambles, on average, it will take until you either reach your goal or lose all your money.

(b) a more careful strategy: as long as your capital is less than $4 you bet $1 at each round. As soon as you have $4 or more you start to bet $2 at each play.

(1) bold strategy:
1st gamble: 50% of time bank ($2) lost, 50% won - bank=$4.

Probability of reaching goal of $8 is .25 (25% of time).

(2) more careful strategy:
Games average 7.5 gambles.
Probability of reaching goal of $8 is .25 (25% of time)

These strategy and all other strategies and systems will have this same outcome. Worth noting is that your betting adversary with $6 is able to survive some loss of capital where you, the player with only $2, cannot. The initial bank ratios $6:$2 are the same as the winning ratios.

Blackjack table limits, why?

Is it to prevent a player from doubling his total amounts of previously lost hands until he wins. That seems like a workable strategy, similar to the "Martingale" method. It doesn't seem likely that you could lose 6 or 7 times in a row playing 21. And when you did win it would cover all loses plus that same amount as profit because you double bet each loss totals.
Is this a workable strategy? Are there any casinos that don't have table limits on blackjack?

All casinos have limits on tables.

If you play in the high roller section, they may have very high upper limits (and the ability take larger wagers upon request), but then they will have an non-negotiable minimum bet.

Martingale simply doesn't work.

There's the seven bets you talked about. If you were to lose them all (which granted is unlikely), you would be out $2,640. You'd be placing a $2,650 bet just to get back to about even. If you got a situation where you needed to split or double down, you'd be putting $5,120 in play. It's just not good.

Casinos will prevent you from doing this by having a lower and upper limit on the table.

You'd be better off learning a game where the house doesn't care if you win, like poker.

Playing blackjack tonight. Any advices?

I will play blackjack at the charity sorority event (we buy chips, $1 per chip, at the end of the night we turn the, for raffle tickets which could get us prizes), therefore the dealer at the blackjack table will be a sorority girl, not a pro.
Rules are: 1-2 decks, doubles/splits are allowed, etc. hit on soft 17.
I've learned Basic Strategy (table with combinations). Any advices? Especially in terms of bets and stuff.

If its not in a casino, force them to play by rules that favor the player, chances are they may have never heard of the surrender option, learn strategy for surrendering, and try to force them to allow it when it is the correct play, this will help your odds.

Strategy differs between one and 2 decks, so make sure you are playing the correct one.

With those rules assuming you can double on any two cards, you can expext to win money playing single deck with perfect strategy, however blackjack strategy for single deck is far more complex than multideck strategy, since sometimes a hand of 10,2 will be treated differently form a hand 0f say 6,6 or 7,5

The simplest card coutnign system available woudl be one that keeps track of only 5s or only aces 5s are the worst cards in the deck so if you havnt seen any yet, you may wnat to wait for the shuffle, and if you havnt seen any aces you may want to raise your bet. This is not a super powerful card coutnign system, worthy of attacking a casino, but it will help and it woudl be very easy to employ.

Whats the correct strategy if you want to gamble?

when i get paid i pay my rent,mortgage( whatever)
Pay my bills(electricity etc.)
Buy my groceries,deli,pizzas,meat,coca cola etc.
then i can safely gamble within my means
never borrow money to gamble
only gamble on what you know
well cheating is fine if you dont get caught(and you dont mind being locked up)
but i can get the odds in my favour just by being patient
Always keep a ledger, most people don't cause they don't want to admit to themselves how much they lose.

Implied odds in Texas Holdem

Any tips/winning strategies for online blackjack?

I just started learning and playing online blackjack and I need more strategies. A lot of this gambling/card "lingo" is still new to me, so english translation would help quite a lot.

My strategies so far is whenever I have say 10 or 11 and the dealer has 9,10,11, I always double, most of the time it works. Also, whenever I land on 18-20, I always stand. Other than that I don't really know how to take advantage of Surrender or other hitting strategies, etc..

Can anyone help?

i'm a new or rookie in online roulette gambling games (real money at online casino) especially on online European Roulette,so i want to know what do you think about the Roulette games?is it The Game Of Luck,The Game Of Strategy (in predictable) or just The Game Of Full Of Cheat??

The only way it could be considered a "Game Of Full Of Cheat" as you put it, is if you consider the casino giving themselves a natural advantage over you cheating.

Yes - they have an advantage over the player. Since the inception of the game, nobody has come up with a way to beat the casino at roulette IN THE LONG RUN.

If you want to call that cheating, go ahead. The problem is, they aren't hiding the fact that these are the rules. You play the game if you want to.

There are folks that will tell you they have a "system" to beat roulette. They will even SELL you these systems! They are all GARBAGE.

Time and time again it has been proven. There is NO WAY to beat roulette in the long run.

Any "Strategy" that you develop or that you use from anyone else MIGHT win you some money at first. Keep using it and you WILL lose.

Roulette is 100% luck. Roulette favors the people spinning the wheel. You are throwing your money away. Maybe not today...maybe not tomorrow...but the casino WILL have your money.

(By the way...it very well might be today.)

Is there any such thing as a 'gambling college'? ?

Two questions...

1) Is there a 'gambling college'?

I heard there was a school in New Jersey where they actually teach people how to have advantage over casinos, and there is a such thing as 'professional' players, who make careers out of it, as well as big bucks and multimillion dollar homes. There are a few games, such as blackjack, poker and vid poker where some strategies can be applied (ie card counting, high betting, probability analyzing, etc). Maybe it can be learned somewhere, I mean, there's enough gambling books to fill a library. It's mathemathics, not 'cheating' and 'busting', that's smoke and mirrors.

I tried googling "gambling college", but its a 'secret thing', and certain 'secret things' don't show up on google.

2) Can anybody show me how to count cards?

I have never heard of a "college" for "advantage play" which is what it is called, however there are many successful, professional advantage players that assault casinos every day, not all of them play for the big bucks, some people do ti just for fun, because no matter how good you are, there is still a gambling nature to the occupation, while you may have a 99% chance to make unlimited money your whole life, you may suffer a 1% chance of losing some enormous figure like 20k, to some people this is not acceptable so they play for small amounts just for fun.

I would be happy to open up advantage play 101 classes for 1 on 1 training for a small fee, I live in NJ, and could teach you EVERYTHING you will need to know as well as teach you many secrets not talked about in books. My friends have actually suggested this many times, my main objection has always been that most people dont BELIEVE that casinos are beatable (when in fact it is very beatable), so i would have difficulty finding students.

I take blackjack above and beyond counting cards to extract every ounce of EV I can from the game in any manor possible, i have endless tactics to teach you if you are interested. Having a private instructor is a good way to go considering eventually YOUR money will be on the felt, a book will not tell you if you have NOT learned something important while an instructor will. Also books only list the minimum neccessary information to COUNT, playing at the tables undetected is a whole different ballgame.

Is this a good blackjack strategy?

So say I start with 1000 dollars. Bet 5 dollars a hand. When I lose, I double the bet, meaning that the loss is recouped. If you lose twice, double it again, betting 20. Keep doubling until you win, and you are back to even plus your original bet. Foolproof?

Because the chances of losing 6 or 7 hands in a row is so slim, there is little to no chance of losing.

NO! You will lose early in the night and will be wandering around wondering 'what happened?' Here's why. What you are describing is the Martingale system and it is exactly as you describe...bet small, lose double, lose double, win go back to the original wager. Okay in your example you start with $5 and have a bankroll of $1000. First of all the bankroll you are starting with is about $5,000 too small. You bet $5, lose $10 lose, $20, $40, $80, $160, $320 now you are out of money. What if you had more money? You still could not continue because of the table limits will be $5-$300 or maybe $500max. What do you do if that $320 hand is a pair of 8s? Get a loan for the split, just hit it, or do you get scared and just stay against a ten? Do yourself a favor and just play with a standard progressive system of betting. Good luck!
