Any suggestions on how to raise the quality of answers on YA?

The level of unintelligent, uninformed, and monosylabic answers is aggravating. However, I feel that Yahoo Answers has the potential to be a great arena for discussion and intellectual development for both individuals and the user base as a group.

The problem seems to be the users who only have one goal: to level up.

What are your ideas on how YA could solve, or at least reduce this situation?

I have a few ideas myself. I think increasing the value of a "best answer" to 50 or so points, while removing the automatic points for answering would vastly improve the quality of answers, but may run the risk of creating too competitive of a platform.

Maybe a 'gambling' system, where you still get automatic points, but you can 'gamble' them for double points if you get a best answer?

What are your thoughts? What are your ideas?

Sort the answers in order of decreasing number of "Best Answers" by the responder. You'd still get monosyllabic responders, but at least their answers would be at the end of the list.

If you want to get fancy, you could do it by topic. I've got plenty of "Best Answers" in biology, so my response in Biology would appear near the top of a list of responses.

However, I have none at all in "Cars" so my response would appear at the end of the list.

Please help me with your knowledge of SACD (Super Audio) home theatre systems?

Hi everyone,

I want to break into the SACD world, but I'm currently on a shoestring budget. I have a very nice Panasonic 42" HDTV to my name, but I want a complete DVD/receiver/speaker system to accomodate it so I can enjoy Pink Floyd and the Moody Blues the way they were meant to be. I've been intrigued about the less expensive, yet SACD-compatible Bravia line from Sony, but I don't want to gamble - any advice?

Thanks in advance for your time and knowledge regarding this topic!
Specifically from readers who currently own SACD systems, which package do you own or recommend? I'm not interested in buying seperate components, nor am I trying to blow the roof off my house, I would simply like to experience the added benefits of Super Audio technology when I play "Dark Side Of The Moon" or "Tubular Bells" in a decent package that runs between $300-$500, that's all.

All-in-one systems are a great way to start a multi-channel system, but there is always the danger (which happens sooner than later), that the weakest component (the DVD drive) fails much sooner than the rest.
