How to do a Football betting pool correctly?
I want to do a Football pool for our Superbowl party with 100 squares. How do I do this correctly? Also, with 10 adults.. how much do you think the squares should be each? Thank you!
Digits 0-9 going across (Last digit of Patriots' score).
Digits 0-9 going down (Last digit of Giants' score).
Line up the LAST DIGIT of each team's scores at certain intervals in the game and payout the appropriate percentages to the people who paid for that box the scores line up to. The payouts and intervals would work as follows:
-End of the 1st quarter: 15%
-End of the 2nd quarter: 15%
-End of the 3rd quarter: 15%
-End of the 4th quarter:15%
-End of the game (OT possibility): 40%
I'd say make the squares worth $1 each. That way, you have $15 per quarter and $40 for the game, giving you $100 total. If the game doesn't go into overtime, the person who wins the 4th quarter gets $55 ($15+$40). If it does go into overtime, someone wins the fourth quarter (15%) and someone (could be the same person) wins the final score amount (40%). If you want to bet higher, make them $5 each for a total of $100 per person ($1000 total). Lots of money to be made there...
Additionally, you can tweak the percentages to add more weight to different points of the game. For example, if halftime and the final score are your big money-makers, then use a 10% (1st),30% (halftime),10% (3rd),10% (4th),40% (game) system. Personally, I like the original way because it allows the winners to make at least $5 on the money they put in if they win one of the quarters. The way I just mentioned now would only earn the winners of the 1st, 3rd and 4th quarters their original amount back. Just some food for thought.

How do I place an NCAA football bet at a casino?
Hi, it's my birthday today so I thought it might be fun to put $50 or so down on my team tonight at the casino. I was just wondering if it is done at a teller, machine, etc. when placing a bet and how much prior to gametime I have to place the bet.

If you are in Las Vegas, most casinos have a Sports Book. Just ask someone that works there where it is. You go to a teller at the Sports Book and tell them how much you want on which team. They will give you a ticket representing your bet. Plan on getting your bet in at least 10 minutes before the game starts just in case there is a line at the counter. I think they take the bets right up to kick-off. (I could be wrong about that.)
If you are NOT in Las Vegas, most casinos do not have sports books. (Other Nevada casinos might, but not places like Atlantic City or American Indian casinos.)
